August 5-6, 2008 Day 75 & 76

e are back at Thomas Basin marina, one of our favorite stop overs. It is close to the heart of Ketchikan, the bus system, close laundry & shower facilities & the people are friendly. I enjoy having the cruise ships in site as it is a reminder of the wonderful Alaskan cruise John and I went on with his sister Peggy and her husband Jim, our brother-in-law John and our niece Erica. Fond memories……
The weather was beautiful 70+ degrees yesterday with not a cloud in the sky and today looks like a welcome repeat. Diane and I plan on going to a few more shops today as Don and John will head to the manly type marine stores in search of the perfect spare part…. Chrystal enjoying some sunshine!!
It always makes you feel better when the sun is shining…. John is washing a layer of salt off the Omega we continue to straighten the inside.
We are crossing the first half of Dixon Entrance tomorrow morning early August 7th, so during our slack time, we have been listening to the weather and studying the charts. We have two big crossing heading south, the first will be the Dixon Entrance into British Columbia (Canada) and after spending time in that section we will again watch the weather and head around the second big crossing – Cape Caution. We will then be back into the Broughtons to spend time at our favorite places…
Along the way, we hope to run into Lee and Rosey aboard Helen Marie. The last time we talked to them, they had traveled around Cape Caution and are spending time in British Columbia.
