Saoirse slipped lines from Omega and Omega lifted anchored at 7:45am from Anan Bay. Thus started our saga….
Saoirse started liftin
g their anchor and after a while, it wouldn’t budge. First they thought it was stuck on the bottom but after several attempts to lift the anchor and with the depth they were now in, it was determined they had something stuck on the anchor itself.John boarded Saoirse for an extra hand and the wor
k continued, while Daleen stayed with Omega. Inch by inch Don, Diane and John finally were able to lift the anchor but when they had less than 75 feet left, Don lifted the anchor and knew the unknown object had dropped to the depths of 400 feet. We all wished we had known what was on the anchor that caused 2 hours of back breaking work. In the end, Saoirse’s anchor and chain were back 
onboard, no one was hurt and everyone had smiles on their faces as we left Anan Bay at 9:45.
We spent the night on the dock in Meyers Chuck. Very interesting place. Highly recommended. A lot of vacation type cabins and a govt dock. We enjoying visiting with many people on the dock but it was time to push on to Ketchikan the next day Aug 4th.
Aug 4th we continued on to Ketchikan with following seas and beautiful blue skies. When we arrived at the fuel dock, the winds were around 12-14 knots and by the time we arrived at Thomas Basin, the wind was blowing 18 gusting to 22. No one likes to dock a boat in high winds but it all worked out well and after Omega and Saoirse arrived in our slips, we assisted other sailboats in the marina since the winds continued to blow over 20 knots.
We spent the afternoon visiting with fellow boaters and relaxing and getting ourselves and the boats ready for when we leave in a couple days.
Tomorrow we plan on running errands around Ketchikan and enjoying the town. The weather report is for sunshine for the next couple days.
