August 22 & 23, 2008 Day 92 & 93
We arrived at Pierre’s around 11:30am, Friday, for the much anticipated Pig Roast the next evening. Pierre’s Bay has been around for years with their popular pig roast and other get together theme’s through the week during the summer months. Pierre & friends purchased Echo Bay (approx half mile south from Pierre’s Bay) earlier in the year along with Windsong (across the bay- now Pierre’s cliff side) and we wanted to see for ourselves how they were doing. We had heard that they were really busy and indeed they are. The gathering tent and the big BBQ grill has been installed at the head of Echo Bay on the section of bridge from the old Seattle I-90 bridge which offers a spectacular 180 degree view of Cramer Passage with the intersection of Fife Sound, Raleigh Passage and Hornet Passage not far to the north. They have been busy building all new docks, electrical towers on the dock, plumbing, etc and have many more improvements in mind for the coming years. It was nice to see Pierre and Tove again.
We also met up with Lee and Rosey aboard Helen Marie & have had a wonderful time catching up on our summers. We enjoyed happy hour under the tent on Friday evening and then there were over 100 people at the Pig Roast on Saturday. There was a 50’s theme for this particular dinner and one couple in attendance celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
The storm fronts continue to come every few days and we have decided to slowly head south and spend more time in Desolation Sound area. We have a quest for the golden ball in the sky and we have heard rumors it is to the south of us.
