August 24 Day 94
We left Pierre’s at Echo Bay around 11am after the rain eased up. It has rained both nights nonstop and most of the mornings but luckily eased up during the afternoon and evening get togethers. After much thought, we have decided to sadly leave the Broughtons and slowly continue south toward the beautiful Desolation Sound in hopes of finding the golden ball in the sky everyone tells us exists and new adventures. We have only 13 miles to travel to Kwatsi Bay from Pierre’s where we will spend the night. These are much shorter distances than what we have experienced this summer in the northern waters of BC and SE Alaska. The seas are calm with cloudy skies and small patches of blue sky trying to breakout….
Lacy Falls along Tribune Channel near Kwatsi Bay is a beautiful waterfall that during the past 3 years has been dry when we have passed through. Due to the amount of rain we have experienced the last few days, we now get enjoy her during her splendor.
Omega and Helen Marie arrived at Kwatsi Bay with many cascading waterfalls around us around 2:30. The sun actually came out for around 30 minutes but is now tucking in our out around the clouds. There were people on the dock saying they thought they knew what rain was until the rainfall they experienced this morning. I guess it was a mighty downpour!! Which is why we get to experience these beautiful waterfalls in August… As I’m sitting here in Omega, I can hear the roar of the waterall behind the marina. Nice…….
We visited Kwatsi three years straight and never saw the waterfalls we are seeing today. One can only imagine what people talk about in tour books when they arrive in the springtime in which the mountains comes alive with waterfalls….
I must get busy to fix our potluck dish for happy hour at 5pm.
After leaving Kwatsi, I’m not sure when the next opportunity will be to get an update to this blog. We will have cell phone in Desolation Sound but that will take around 7 days to get there. Just don’t worry, we are fine….. the temperature are around 10 degrees warmer and it feels nice. We actually brought out our sandals for the first time this year!! Of course, John has been wearing his shorts after leaving Glacier Bay just to prove he could.
Don and Diane... the bugs are back!!
