Happy Birthday Grandma!! Back to Bartlett Cove - Glacier Bay

Day 44 - 45 July 4 & 5

It is so quiet in North Sandy Cove and when we woke at 7:30am, I opened my eyes to see clouds, lifted my head to look out port hole because the clouds really appeared to look more like fog. Clear visibility but you would only know there were half of the trees. **smile**.

We had decided to sleep in since we were all on scenery overload with long hours on the water. Fun and exciting but long hours traveling.

Celebrity Alert: After arriving at Bartlet Cove, we tied up to the dock for our 3 hour allowed stay to take a walk, check email and tour the grounds before we anchored in the cove. As soon as we arrived, we began hearing the news that Indiana Jones had arrived!!
Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart had been in Glacier Bay and were headed to Gustavus a few miles from Glacier Bay. We joined in on the excitement of the celebrity alert!! After arriving at Glacier Bay Lodge a few minutes later, I began checking our email and low and behold, Lori, announced we’d better hurry back to Juneau because Harrison and Calista had also been to Juneau and shared this picture with us.
Alaska celebrates the 4th of July at 12:01am on July 4 due to their long daylight hours. On July 4th there was big buzz at the Lodge that Harrison and Calista were at the Gustavus parade and in the area. What fun!!!! We enjoyed hearing all the stories but we didn't get the slightest glimpse.
After all the excitement, we enjoyed a delicious fish dinner caught by Steve & John and decided to lay over July 5 to enjoy Bartlett Cove area and listen to the films at Glacier Bay Lodge of the past, present & future of Glacier Bay. Very Interesting...

We spotted a couple porcupines in the trees and heard of a few bear & moose sightings in the area around the lodge.

We are slipping lines July 6 at 4am for Elfin Cove.
