We left Refuge Cove around 3pm yesterday and picked up our prawn traps. Wow!! 154 huge pr
awns… our biggest count yet. I’m looking in my cookbook for ways to prepare the bigger prawns other than peel and eat, which is our favorite way.It was windy yesterday, only 14 knots but more than we have seen in a while. The skies are still bl
ue and we anchored in Squirrel Cove for the night. There was a sailboat convention in Squirrel Cove. Almost 15 sailboats were anchored. Amazing...We called Don and Diane and they were spending the night in Lund before continuing their journey home. 
After anchoring, John and I just looked at each other. It felt strange. We haven’t been by ourselves since May 25th, 2008 on the Omega. We miss our friends but know we will see them again before you know it. It has been a wonderful summer and we aren’t done yet. Lee and Rosey left with their friends Mike and Chris to go fishing and back to Prideaux Haven. Don and Diane are heading south back to their marina in Pleasant Harbor, WA to be able to spend time with Don’s Mom. We are heading out tomorrow to see if we can catch Ken and Kenna home. Kenna emailed us a couple days ago and said they had been at their home in Quartz Bay, Cortes Island for the month of Aug and wondered how our summer was coming along. We hope to catch them before they leave. It is only a little less than 20 miles away.
Gosh, John and I both slept until 9am this morning. Amazing for us….The sky is blue again and the sun felt wonderful this morning. We had breakfast and lifted anchor for the govt dock to pick up some ice and see what the General Store had to offer.
We left Squirrel Cove around noon headed to Quartz Bay. It is tem
pting to stop somewhere and fish but we still have prawns and fish to eat before we can fish again.We arrived at Quartz Bay September 10th at 2:30pm and it appears we have missed Ken and Kenna. We also looked to see if we might have caught the Blair’s at home but it also looks like they have returned home but plan on returning later. We tied up to their dock for the night and will look around. Hopefully we will see Bill, their caretaker. It is a beautiful bay and we are going to explore in Alpha a in a little while. The weather continues to be absolutely gorgeous. Actually the nicest string of weather I can remember in years.
We enjoyed a quiet evening having the rest of fish John had caught and some of the bigger prawns we got yesterday. Delicious.
John ended up going to bed at 8 and Daleen to bed at 9. It had been a long day…
