August 26, 2008 Day 96
Due to the forecasted winds we decided to leave Lagoon Cove early to get closer to Johnstone Strait. On the way out, we retrieved the prawn traps we had set before. We had 52 in our traps, while Helen Marie had 137 in theirs.

hored in Boughey Bay and Omega rafted alongside with winds around 10 knots. We enjoyed fresh prawns and salad for dinner. The guys decided to set crab traps but alas not the day to catch crab. As we set aboard Helen Marie we watched as the winds continued to build throughout the day and by 7-8pm, we had white caps in Boughey Bay, with winds 15 gusting to 25… I sure would hate to be out on Johnstone Strait this evening. We listened to the weather; Queen Charlotte Strait, outside of Port McNeill, was blowing 35-45+ with 15 foot seas. Oh my goodness…. What a storm. At the northern ti
p of Vancouver Island, we heard the winds were blowing 55 gusting to 65…. The wind continued most of the night, tapering off in the early morning and when we woke up at 6am the seas were calm and no wind. Helen Marie’s 35# CQR anchor with 200 feet of chain deployed held firm and we all slept as well as can expected.
We are thinking about our cruising friends and hope they are safely anchored or tied to a secure dock during this nasty storm.
