We ended up waiting in Meyers Chuck for 3 days for the NW
winds to help blow us into Ketchikan. It
ended up being a beautiful Mill Pond day on the water with glorious
sunshine.
We stopped at the fuel dock in Ketchikan, filled our diesel
& propane tanks and contacted the Harbor Master for a slip assignment. After docking in Bar Harbor, we decided to
sit down, look at the charts and listen to the weather forecast for the
following days. It seems there is
another storm front moving in and we have a short weather window to get out of
(Dodge) Ketchikan. We went to the
grocery store to pick up a few veggies & fruit and made our way back to
Omega.
Bittersweetly, we slipped lines from the Bar Harbor Marine
at Zero-Dark-Thirty on 8-17-16. The day
was gorgeous with NW 5-14 knot winds most of day and a light chop on the
water. We had a wonderful sail while
enjoying watching Humpback whales in Revillagigedo Channel before enter into
Foggy Bay, AK around 12:30, traveling 32 miles.
The temperature in the cabin of Omega is between 75-80 which feels great. The blue sky is amazing, the sunshine is
blinding and the wind is non-existent.
The only sour note is an occasional black fly. What a gorgeous day.
Oh My Goodness, Did anyone else see the Full Moon tonight. It was beautiful coming up over the tree line. We are truly blessed to live on this earth. Life is good...
We plan on leaving Foggy Bay at first light and travel the 2nd
leg of Dixon Entrance of 56 miles into Prince Rupert, British Columbia,
Canada.
