Lund

We left Nanaimo BC under calm seas 7-6-16, but once out in the Straits of Georgia the wind was blowing 15 then later 20+ on our bow. It was fine for the first hour but progressively worse after the second hour and we still had 4 hours to go to Hornby Island. We always say the best plans of mice and men. So we turned to the northeast to cross the Straits of Georgia which made for a much more comfortable trip. Once around the protection of Lasqueti and Texada islands we had smoother water but the northwest winds didn't change as predicted so the wind was still on our bow all day. We arrived in Lund under beautiful blue skies and 5 knots of wind. Captain John made a perfect landing as we were rafting up to another sailboat in the Marina.

With a delicious salad and brats for dinner we were glad we continued the long day of 60 miles. Since the current was against us for half the day it took us 11 1/2 hours but with our boat and the seas it was a good day. We enjoyed nice warm showers and studied the charts to see what our plan would be for tomorrow. We both slept like logs.

We woke to cloudy skies with rain and wind in the forecast over the next couple days.
We plan to cross over to Campbell River and drop our anchor in Gowlland Harbour or see if we have a slack current to go thru Seymore Narrows.
