Around Cape Caution

What a day.  We left Port Hardy at 7:30am under cloudy rainy skies.  We had checked the weather forecast for the wind, wave, tides, currents, buoy & lighthouse reports, which indicated we would have a smooth 5-6 hour crossing.  We had decided last night to layover at God’s Pocket if required and also if needed stop over at the Walker Group if the seas acting up.   We circled by God’s Pocket, we double the weather and conditions and made the go-no go decision.  IT’S A GO.    We decided to stop back by God’s Pocket another time. 

We started with the ebb tide, which boosted Omega to 8 knots and then around 10:10 we passed Cape Caution on the Flood.  It was a great crossing with ocean swells behaving themselves.

We were welcomed into Fitz Hugh Sound near Fury Cove by 30 humpback whales, blowing and diving for a couple hours.  We bypassed Fury Cove, which is a lovely place to drop an anchor but wanted to try someplace different.  John found Green Island Anchorage around a couple hours north of Fury Cove.  We dropped anchor, had dinner and relaxed in Green Island Anchorage near Illachie Inlet & what a beautiful bay in British Columbia…  John found this bay and it is a do again.  Beautiful and very peaceful. 

Cloudy Rainy all day but the sun has come out and we have enjoyed a beautiful sunset.
