July 10 We discovered Discovery Cove

Happy Birthday Ella & Happy Anniversary David & Debi

We were going to stop at the popular Shearwater Resort & Marina but there was no room in the marina and a long waiting list.  The harbour was full of all sizes of boats anchored either for the night or waiting on the wait list to be called in to tie up to the dock.  So we took on diesel & water and after finding out there was a waiting list we departed.  We enjoy reading the cruising books “Waggoner’s Cruising Guide” and Douglass Exploring the South & North Coast of British Columbia and Alaska Books.  They are both very valuable guides to have aboard.  With suggested anchorages, tips and we wouldn’t leave home without them.  We also carry all paper charts & electronic GPS Garmin, Radar and have charts on our iPads & iPhones.

Back to no room at the inn ---   While reading the Waggoner’s Cruising book Daleen found an interesting no name Cove, which the authors of the books named Discovery Cove.  So, originally we were going to go there since it was recommended by Bob Hale but decided to go to Shearwater but no room.  How lucky were we!!!!
Discovery Cove was beautiful.  It was just a few short miles away and enough room for many boats.  There are 3 plus coves inside and there happen to be 4 boats including us that enjoyed a very peaceful evening.  I have to add that we have seen so many eagles on our journey this summer, especially in British Columbia.
