As we travel south on Princess Royal Channel, the beauty is amazing. It is another long slender channel with high mountain sides on either side. There is this one point that is named Elephant Head and on our way north, I looked at the point and found no reason for the name. Heading south, I was in the cockpit and noticed the shape of the tall mountain was in the shape of an elephant head & body. I was amazed and excited.
The whales and eagles are still around us, fewer than in Alaska but still a joy to see.
We spent the night in Windy Bay, waking up the next morning ready to explore the Fiordlands & Knoch Falls. Oh My Goodness, it is a beautiful falls which are bigger in the spring than the late summer but still an enjoyment to see. We took pictures this way and that and had a great time. Like kids...
Omega cruised back to Mathieson Channel and stopped for the night in a very calm Rescue Bay which also brought a beautiful blue sky & mill pond evening.
We passed thru Perceval Narrows & Reid Passage and much to our delight & surprise, Seaforth Channel was just light chop & swells from the ocean. Only a short crossing but we know it can be nasty for a short while. Yea....
We spent a couple days in Shearwater, laundry, visiting with other boaters and just a lovely time, while waiting for weather to pass. Man, the first night we were there the wind picked up and the evening was very noise with wind blowing thru all the rigging of the sailboats. Glad it settled down a bit.
We left Shearwater and headed along Fitz Hugh Sound with much fog & rain. Finally in the afternoon the sky cleared and it was very pleasant We arrived in Fury Cove on Aug 30.
The sunsets have been gorgeous every night and one night we had a beautiful full rainbow.
Our trip around Cape Caution on Sept 2 was beautiful. Mill Pond seas with 3 foot swells for part of the trip but clear skies with no fog or rain. We were very grateful...
