Happy 4th of July

Happy Birthday Grandma!!

After leaving Ucluelet, we returned to Bamfield, visited and had a planning session with Jim and Mary; then we headed out together to explore the islands in Barkley Sound.   We enjoyed anchorages around Effingham Island, Nettle Island, Refuge Island, Pinkerton Islands, Jane Bay (Frank's Bay), Cheeyah Island near Kildonan and we are currently in Green Cove Marina.  We cruised around many other islands and small passage ways for a look see.  Barkley Sound is beautiful with many eagles and much sealife to enjoy...  We found our first bears of 2012 in Frank's Bay.  Three black bears feeding during the evening and again in the morning right to the stern of our boats as Omega and Lady Ruff were stern tied...We have heard from the owners of the marina that there are bears here at Green Cove!  We hope Molly, their dog, alerts us of any bears on the docks...

We are having a blast bottom fishing catching beautiful rockfish but unfortunately the mighty lingcod has slipped through our grasp by only a stroke of the net. The Rock fish have been delicious!!  I had one lingcod but too small to keep and John hooked a beautiful lingcod only to have it slip the hook as the net was being lowered. Darn.... We have had fun.... We are headed out salmon fishing in the next day or two.

There is a Music Festival in Bamfield from July 7-15 so we are going to check it out and then go back out in the islands before we need to start heading south.

The rains and cloudy weather has been upon us but we just put on our rain gear and go except for the downpours....  July 4 and 5 the skies have been a brillant blue and the sun feels so good...

We had a great sail today with 5 other sailboats. How much fun it was...  It has been a great day.

There is a high pressure stationary ridge upon us and we hope that the sunny days continue for the rest of the week....
