Happy 4th of July and Happy Birthday Grandma!!

We arrived in Bamfield, Barkley Sound on June 24th.    Jim & Mary provided us a delicious Lingcod dinner after we spent 8 hours on the water.  Since then we have dined on fresh prawns, crab, salmon, crab cakes & crab delight which was yummy.  Don & Diane, aboard Saoirse, John & Daleen aboard Omega are rafting to Lady Ruff - Jim & Mary in the middle of the bay in Bamfield.  Tonight July 3rd, we are enjoying spaghetti and meatballs for supper.

We have taken lovely walks around Bamfield both East & West side.  The west side has a boardwalk which is a nice walk for Daleen.  Flat…**smile**  We attended a yearly outdoor party given by one of Mary’s friend with a band, outdoor lights and fireworks and loads of wonderful people.  A fun time was had by all.

We have watched from our boats, bears on the beach hunting for food and eagles catching fish for their dinner.  Yes, the community of Bamfield has black bears roaming the streets.  Of course, they do not like people, so they will run away from you and we haven’t yet seen them on shore with us.  Mary, however, saw one while walking to the park the other day.  Diane and I both raised our eyes and maybe we need to take our air horns & bear whistles with us to shore.  **smile**  Yes, we all know the bear whistle story.  hehe

There are many fishing boats coming and going.

Canada Day July 1, and Bamfield is putting on a parade & pig roast for all to enjoy.  We just returned from the festivities and much fun was had by all.  The East side of Bamfield is not flat but we still had a nice walk, attended the yard sale & found the best spot to watch the parade and then attend the party at the park.  

We enjoyed a full day of fun on Canada Day.

We filled our boat with water and diesel and ready for another couple weeks of fun in Barkley Sound.

Don is waiting on a part to arrive for his sailboat and when it arrives and he has a chance to repair it, we plan on heading out into the islands to explore, fish & relax.  He expects the part sometime this week.
