Oh my Goodness, what a thrill... Barkley Sound is a fisherman's delight with the mighty salmon, the majestic bald eagles and just he beauty of the area.
The reason we pressed through out of Esquimalt, was there was a "small" weather window Thursday & Friday and another storm front moving in Saturday. We enjoyed a beautiful day Friday, getting settled in Bamfield. Saturday, Sunday it rained and very windy on Monday. Time to relax, walk around during dry spells, read, visit and enjoyed delicious salmon dinner courtesy of Jim. We tried to fish on Monday but the seas were very choppy and we turned back into the harbour. But Tuesday, June 19th arrived with sun and calm seas in Barkley Sound. We all loaded in Jim's dinghy and fishing was grand and loads of fun. Much action on the poles and we returned back to our big boats, a surprising 5 hours later with 4 beautiful king salmon. What a day!!
